Bowls
Although it’s played in more than 50 countries around the world, did you know that this popular pastime originated right here in Britain? The goal of the game is to roll biased balls so that they stop as close as possible to a smaller ball called a 'jack’. There are several versions of the game, including lawn bowls and indoor bowls.
Why play bowls?
Bowls is a fantastic form of gentle exercise. Walking up and down the green to collect your bowls is a great way to get cardio exercise, and throwing your bowls is a workout for your arm and leg muscles. It’s also a very social sport because it’s so slowly paced, so there’s always plenty of time to chat and build new friendships.
